We are looking for a Payroll Manager to join a fast-growing, dynamic accountancy firm in South Liverpool.

Working with our Payroll Administrator, you will take responsibility for the delivery of our payroll services to over 120 clients.

Payroll experience is essential, and preferably within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau serving multiple clients.

You will share our ethos in providing excellent client service and offering forward-thinking advice so that our clients appreciate the value we provide is far more than a standard accountant offers.

We will welcome applicants who want to work part-time, with a minimum of 21 hours per week. Many of our accounting team work their full time hours over a 4-day week, and we are happy to offer this for the Payroll Manager role.

 

Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for the firm’s payroll department, including managing the payroll processing for multiple clients, including RTI and pension submissions, P11Ds and CIS returns
  • Communicating with clients on day-to-day payroll issues and providing excellent client care
  • Liaising with HMRC, The Pensions Regulator and pension scheme providers in relation to client queries and issues when required
  • Onboarding new clients, including registering payrolls with HMRC
  • Enrolling employees in workplace pensions, and managing employer duties in relation to automatic enrolment and re-enrolment duties
  • Knowledge and experience in processing statutory payments

 

Essential Skills

  • Experience of working in a payroll bureau or accountancy practice
  • Strong technical knowledge of payroll and related legislation
  • Approachable and likeable – your colleagues and clients never have a bad word to say about you
  • Excellent time-management skills to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to communicate with gravitas and in a consultative manner with clients and the JDA team
  • A “can do” attitude and desire to provide an excellent service to our clients
  • Flexibility and a readiness to take on other tasks to support the team and our clients
  • A willingness to learn new skills and apply them
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, Outlook and Word.

 

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of Brightpay payroll software – training will be provided as required
  • Payroll qualifications

 

Hours of work:          36 hours per week, but we will happily consider part-time (minimum of 21 hours)

                                    We will consider flexible working

                                    The job is office-based with an option for some remote working

Salary Range:           £35,000 to £40,000 FTE depending on experience          

                                    33 days annual leave FTE (incl bank holidays)
