With Brexit dominating the front pages and Liverpool’s win the back pages, the Spring Statement 2019 has got lost in between!
When the Chancellor announced a couple of years ago that the Spring Statement would be less important than the standard Budget, he can’t have imagined he’d barely get a look in.
So, what was included? To make it even shorter, and more bite-sized for you, we’ve summarised it in a handy report.
Instead of anything massive, it was really an announcement of how the economy’s going and a few consultations. The ones to be of most interest to business owners will be:
- the dawn of Making Tax Digital from 1 April
- a cut in the Apprenticeship levy to 5%
- updates on consultations on the VAT threshold and Entrepreneur’s Relief.
And, of course, an update on the impact of Brexit for businesses.
So we’ve outlined this in our summary.
We’ve also added in all the new tax rates from April 2019 and outlined the main changes that will affect you.
